Is a rapid reversal of Brexit both unrealistic and unnecessary?
Brexit took effect on 31 January 2020, ending UK membership of the EU single market and customs union. The UK has since negotiated a Trade and Cooperation Agreement with the EU, governing trade, security and fisheries. Trade frictions remain in areas such as Northern Ireland and regulatory alignment, with ongoing negotiations over veterinary and sanitary checks.
