About refnation

refnation is a daily political referendum platform for the UK. 8 go live every day, from the economy and the NHS to immigration and housing. You vote yes or no, or skip, and at midnight each one settles with its result and a written verdict.

Every vote updates your live political profile: where you sit from Hard Left to Hard Right, which of nine parties your votes match, and a written read of your politics. It is the only political profile built from daily referendums. A test reads you once. refnation reads every vote you cast, so your profile gets more exact the longer you vote.

Members with a complete profile can ask a referendum of their own, one a day; asks are reviewed and selected for the ballot. refnation is free and open to anyone in the UK aged 16 or over. The full walkthrough is on What is refnation?, and every settled referendum is on Verdicts.

Most people only get asked what they think at a general election, or by a quiz they take once. refnation asks every day, on the issues in the news, and keeps the answers. Over time that becomes a record of what you believe, vote by vote, rather than a label you once chose.

Your profile is built from your votes. Not from a party you picked or anything you say about yourself.

One vote each. One verified vote per person, per referendum. A strong argument earns respect from other members, not extra votes.

Open results. Every referendum shows its full result, split by leaning, party, region, age and gender. Verdicts quote what members argued, so you can check them against the page.

Your politics are yours. Your postcode places you in your constituency and is never shown publicly.

Polls balance their samples by who people say they voted for last time. refnation works out each member's political leaning from how they actually vote, referendum after referendum, then gives all seven leanings, from Hard Left to Hard Right, an equal say in every result. No one side of politics can decide a result just by turning up.Checked against YouGov and other national polls on 34 recent issues, refnation's result came down on the same side 31 times: refnation vs the polls.

refnation's referendums are not official and carry no legal weight. refnation is not a news source, and it never tells anyone how to vote.

refnation is independently built and funded, and run by Refnation Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. It is not affiliated with any political party, government body, campaign or media organisation, and takes no money from any of them.
