Why most compass tests get it wrong

A fixed quiz asks you to agree or disagree with sentences written years ago, then hands you a dot and stops. It can't tell you whether you've changed, whether you break from your own side on any particular issue, or how you compare to anyone real. Real questions, not fixed statements

Instead of agreeing or disagreeing with abstract sentences, you vote on live British political questions — the things being argued about this week. That's what makes the result specific to you rather than to a template, and it's why it can place you topic by topic instead of averaging everything into a single label.

It moves as you do

A one-off test freezes you. Here, every vote nudges your position, and every 10 votes earns a fresh written read that names what has changed since the last one. If your views on immigration harden or your economics soften, you'll see it happen rather than having to retake anything.

And how conventional you are

Alongside left and right, you get a conformity score — how often your vote matches the majority. Two people can sit in exactly the same place on the spectrum and be completely different: one in step with the country, one consistently against it. No other compass test measures that.

Yes, free forever. You don't need an account to start — vote on the day's questions and you'll get your political compass at the end of them. An account only becomes useful if you want to keep the profile and watch it develop over time.
How is this different from the Political Compass test?+
The Political Compass gives you around 60 fixed statements and a dot on a two-axis grid, once. Here you vote on real UK referendum questions that change daily, and your position keeps moving as you vote. You also get a breakdown by topic, a conformity score showing how often you agree with the rest of the country, and constituency-level data — none of which the Compass provides.
How many questions are there?+
8 — that's a day's ballot, and finishing it earns your first read. A fresh one follows every 10 votes after that.
Is it specific to UK politics?+
Yes. Every question is a real, current British political question rather than an abstract statement, and results are broken down across all 650 UK constituencies. That's the trade-off: it's far more relevant if you're in the UK, and less useful if you're not.
Do I get a result straight away?+
