Should the UK abolish its planning system?

The UK's planning system, introduced in 1947, restricts building houses, roads, laboratories, reservoirs, power stations, schools and railways. It drives up costs and limits competition, creating scarcity and poor quality. Lord Wolfson argues it is the greatest drag on British prosperity and should be replaced entirely.
