Should the UK return international foreign aid spending to 0.7% of GDP?
The UK legally targets 0.7% of GNI on ODA but cut it from 0.5% to 0.3% by 2027 to fund defence spending, reaching a provisional 0.43% in 2025. Current plans project spending around £9 billion by 2027-28, the lowest share since 1999, with no return to 0.7% expected before 2029 or later depending on fiscal conditions. New Prime Minister Andy Burnham faces pressure from Labour MPs to restore the target sooner.

I can understand the logic of a no vote, yet something puzzles me. As a country we want good health care, education, care of the elderly, roads, and so on. To pay for this, we have to contribute financially, by paying taxes. The argument for not increasing aid is that less money will go to our essential services, my answer is,we increase the tax the better off pay, remove loopholes that help them paying less tax. Distribute wealth better.
