Should Royal Mail be allowed to raise first class stamp prices to £1.80?
Royal Mail has raised the price of a first-class stamp to £1.80 from £1.70, marking the eighth increase in six years and more than doubling since privatisation in 2013 when it cost 60p. Letter volumes have fallen 70% in 20 years amid rising delivery addresses to 32 million, while the company has missed targets since 2019 and faces a £21m Ofcom fine, passing costs to customers despite prioritising parcels.
