You want a Britain that owns its own defence, keeps its housing decisions in private hands rather than the council's, and doesn't flinch from immigration enforcement — but you're no doctrinaire Thatcherite: you'd raise National Insurance to fund an earlier retirement, and you'd rather a judge use their own judgement than have Westminster strip their discretion. It's a practical, slightly old-fashioned conservatism — firm on control, generous on the state's older obligations.

You're out of step more often than not — siding with the national majority on only three of ten recent votes. Where the country warmed to banning junk food ads or holding platforms liable for misinformation, you said no both times; where most of Britain wanted judges reined in on repeat offenders, you backed the judge.

Gower backed you almost everywhere it had a vote, agreeing on the nuclear deterrent, the NI-for-pensions trade, assisted dying, online voting — a rare run of unanimous local company. It's a small sample, one vote each, but it reads as a town cut from similar cloth to you rather than one pulling against you.

Seven scored votes is early days, and huge stretches of the map — economy, defence, education, energy, the constitution — are still blank. Your housing conviction is the one clear signal so far; a vote or two on tax, Europe, or crime would tell us whether the rest of you is as settled.
