Should all people who work in London be allowed to vote for the London Mayor, even if they live outside London?
Voting in Mayor of London elections requires being at least 18, a British, Irish, qualifying Commonwealth or specific EU citizen, and resident in Greater London. The Mayor, currently Sadiq Khan who won a third term in 2024, oversees transport, policing, housing and environment policies affecting the wider south-east. Hundreds of thousands commute daily into London from surrounding areas but cannot vote.

Considering working in London means spending a good deal of the day there, yes, they should be allowed to vote. Greater London covers a huge area. For example part of Kent is now part of London, it changed years ago, how much further out is it going to go?
Voting for metropolitan/ regional leaders should be limited to British citizens living or working within the area, as both are equally important and equally impacted. This would mean those Brits who live and work get two votes. Those Brits who don’t work, or only work without residing get just one. Non British citizens should not get a vote
Our capital city has suffered from ethnic cleansing for decades. So much do we’re paying to put foreigners in houses before our own citizens. It’s outrageous that any foreigner can hold public office never mind our capital city. We need a mass purge of the capital to make it British again!
Why, they only wor here and spend their money and pay their taxes (mostly) somewhere else.
I can see why the Yes arguement exists but, I feel as though people from outside London won't be able to see the bigger picture of what the Mayoral election rests on. Realistically, commuters don't care about London’s social housing crisis, borough policing, or child poverty... Plus commuters don't pay GLA, and would ultimately dilute the voice of local communities in London
