Hate to say it but handcuffing a dying teenager over false claims is what happens when officers are terrified of administrative HR blowback instead of doing their jobs. Police shouldn't be social workers calculating identity politics. We should be able to apply the law equally, and blindly to everyone
A man was recently arrested for posting pictures of himself using guns in America on Facebook. Not charged thankfully. Along with many other underreported cases where people are being imprisoned for social media posts. Hundreds of videos circulate online of police intentionally surrounding and trapping protesters, termed kettling, in order to provoke violence and boost arrests. Meanwhile, serious crimes are completely ignored. No sane person could claim things are okay.
I believe it is even more complicated, a multi-tier policing followed by multi-tier justice system strictly following the order or victimhood assigned to identity-focused groups. Lawlessness is excused by social, economic, and cultural problems primarily through the lens of systemic oppression, where certain groups are cast as victims of historical or ongoing power imbalances. And there is also ruling class.

Not sure how it is possible to not think there is something malign in our justice system. When a ma is jailed for 2 years for throwing stones, but rapists walk free, something has gone wrong.
