Abortion is legally available in Great Britain under the Abortion Act 1967 up to 24 weeks with medical approval. The Crime and Policing Act 2026 decriminalised women ending their own pregnancies at any stage but left the 1967 framework, time limits and healthcare regulation unchanged. Around 200,000 abortions occur annually in England and Wales, mostly before 10 weeks.

Absolutely not. The only person who can decide whether an abortion is the way to go, is the mother of the unborn child. No-one has the right to tell a woman that she can't have an abortion, except her Dr.
How is this even being debated?
The current law offers a reasonable balance between the rights of women and that of a potential future child who is not yet viable.
I am pro-life. This means that if someone I know asks me to stand with them if they need an abortion, I will do so. Will I be sad... yes. But someone needs help that can be given with dignity by medical professionals. I will still be holding their hands afterwards. It's not my place to control a grown human's body. I can be sad within myself & hope for a society where we have stronger consent, better contraception & healthier decency between men and women. 😊
There will always be some cases where it is necessary - rape, immediate medical risk to the pregnant woman, serious deformity. So it should be safe, legal but very rare.
