Is Andy Burnham doing a good job as Prime Minister?
Andy Burnham has been Prime Minister and Labour leader since 20 July 2026, succeeding Keir Starmer after a leadership change triggered by poor local election results. In his first months he has announced plans for a National Care Service, greater public control of water, and decentralising power from London while maintaining a slim parliamentary majority. Recent polling and media coverage reflect divided views on whether his mayoral-style approach is translating effectively to national leadership.

Hasn't really done anything, which is bad for country. Needs to start making serious prime ministral decisions
So far so good, although he hasn't had the job long enough to say a strong yes, or a strong no. In my mind he's still unproven.
Brass tacks... he's Labour and Labour is meant to represent the working class. He does't.
To be frank, it's far too early to tell. If I put my cynicism aside for a second, like a few other responses here, there are some policies I was quite pleased to see, but a lot more I'm dubious with. Ultimately, anything that allows the state more controls over individual liberties and contributes to a larger surveillance state is something I can't quite abide with. We'll see. Interesting how him and Starmer are both WEF puppets, too.
It's too early to make a sensible non-partisan judgement however look at the options. Never has there been such a pathetic, compromised or outright racist set of political actors devoid of principle or simple honesty. Burnham achieved office by questionable means but he does have principles, however misguided they might appear. This country needs political stability and changing again would be destructive.
How terrifying that half the people here seem to think he’s going a good job.
3 months is impossible to judge, currently just running with whatever kiers government was doing and planning beforehand
He has pledged a couple of good things which he hasn’t followed through on yet: - licensing jackdaw and rosebank - making building houses easier near rail stations If he does these then I might improve my opinion of him. On other fronts it’s negative: more statism, inefficient nationalised industry, more regulation, a larger welfare state. Then his unhinged speech at his party conference idolising the blackout ridden, IMF-bailout-attracting 70s before Thatcher fixed things
I don't really agree with a lot of his principles such as nationalisation, and I thought he'd be a disaster, but honestly it's refreshing to have a PM for the first time in my life who honestly seems like he wants to improve this country rather than just improve the lives of his friends and donors.
“Maintaining a slim parliamentary majority” What?
