Is the UK heading in the wrong direction and needs major policy changes?

Andy Burnham replaced Keir Starmer as Prime Minister in July 2026. Recent polls show Labour leading Reform UK by 3-6 points but with only around 27% support in a fragmented field. Seven in ten Britons remain dissatisfied with how the government is running the country, with the cost of living the top concern. Burnham has pledged to break from the past 40 years by reforming housing, energy, water and social care while reversing deindustrialisation.

We've spent far too many years mastering the art of the "managed decline"... high taxes on work, low productivity, unearned wealth extraction, and public services run on duct tape and hope.... The cost of living isn't exactly an act of God, is it?!

Policies, prular. Pretty all aspects need serious fixing. Current direction is straight to hell.

Energy is at the core (pun intended) of everything. We were a world leader in fission, and we could be again. New pebble bed reactors are intrinsically safe, as are thorium cores. Some designs even use waste from older reactors as fuel. Have your cake and eat it!

This is a case of "does a bear..." or "is the pope...". Can't wait to readthe justifications from the "no" camp...

The wording of this question is a bit confusing. I support major policy changes, and I believe that Burnham should be the one making them.
