Should everyone pay a dedicated tax to fund the UK’s defence?
UK defence is funded from general taxation with no dedicated tax. The government is increasing spending to almost £80 billion annually by 2029/30 under the Defence Investment Plan, reaching 2.7% of GDP and aiming for 3% in the next Parliament. This funds equipment, the nuclear deterrent, and warfighting readiness amid rising global threats and social spending pressures.

Well I would say yes, really ! However I know that whatever it was set at, would very soon, and regularly, increase.
I would say yes but we have seen what they have done with income tax to destroy our pensions so would do the same with a tax for defence
I want to support our army, navy ,and air force but surely the same tax payers can’t keep paying more tax while the government wastes money on many things tax payers don’t want - free phones, board, lodging for migrants or £70 000 to refit Abu Hamsa’s free home. Not to mention all the funded charities giving away free hijabs. Hasn’t Andy Capp got a £22B shortfall to sort out?
There are enough "dedicated" taxes as it is.
We could just pay less to house migrants who don’t work.
Defence spending should be ring fenced, which is basically the same
Hypothecation distorts policy, causes tax anomalies and reduces government flexibility to respond to events.
Only if it deducted from the extortionate taxes I already pay
Oh yet another tax, er! Use the money you get wisely first. Audit every single penny before you try to squeeze another penny out of us! The only reason the country is skint is because of financial abuse.
Ringfenced, also need our own defence/ arms manufacturer. Least we will be paying for British workers to protect us
