Should the UK stop issuing travel visas to Russian citizens?

Russians need a visa before travelling to the UK and cannot use the ETA scheme, but there is no blanket ban. Applications are assessed individually, with extra security and financial checks since 2022, and sanctioned individuals are refused. The Nationality and Borders Act 2022 gave the Home Office power to restrict visas by nationality. In October 2026 Finland pressed for an EU-wide halt to Russian tourist visas, and the EU is weighing tighter Schengen rules amid hybrid-attack fears.

Why do we need to ban normal Russian citizens from coming to the UK?? They're not the KGB or the Kremlin

Case by case basis. I'm quite sure most Russians are just normal everyday people like the rest of us.
