Do you feel the UK has become less safe to live in over the past five years?

Official figures show overall crime in England and Wales is broadly flat: the Crime Survey estimated about 9.7 million headline incidents in the year to June 2026, with no significant change on the year before. Police-recorded knife crime fell 6% in that period, while fraud rose 11% and recorded robbery rose 10%, partly because of better recording of business robberies. The Global Peace Index 2026 ranked the UK 39th, down from 35th. A 2026 King's College London study found the public widely believes crime is rising even where long-term data show falls.

Most high streets are no go areas at night. No I do not feel safe in any way. I would feel safer if everyone carried arms.

Official statistics be damned. I've seen more assaults, petty crime, and all around crime than ever over the last few years, and I am deeply sceptical of any statistics saying otherwise

I genuinely feel safer in the UK today than I did five years ago. The official statistics show crime has flatlined, which perfectly matches my own daily reality. I will not let populist media dictate my own sense of security over the actual data

Safety is decreasing as the percentage of 3rd worlders is increasing
