If IRGC involvement in the RAF Fairford bomb plot is proven, should the UK take military action in response?
Police arrested five men near RAF Fairford on 27 September 2026 on suspicion of terrorism and explosives offences after intercepting suspicious vehicles heading to the base. The Gloucestershire site has hosted US B-1 bombers used for strikes on Iran earlier in 2026. Counter-terrorism investigators are examining possible IRGC sponsorship, following explicit Iranian warnings that the base is a legitimate target.

Deterrence against state sponsored terror isn't performative bombing campaigns. It’s proscribing the IRGC as a terrorist organisation, seizing regime assets, and dismantling domestic spy networks. There's no need for us to sleepwalk into another unwinnable Middle Eastern war as Washington's deputy sheriff... Again.
Whomever we find as responsible must face and feel consequences of this act of war.
The Iranian culture is obsessed with strength. Showing weakness is, therefore, unwise. We should send our remaining Sopwith Camel immediately and get it to tow one of our boats with the broken engines.
It is high time we did what should have done long and proscribe the IRGC. At the present time I'm not sure we have the capacity for direct military action without a strain on resources elsewhere. It may be the case that we offer more support to the U.S, though their motivations for the war against Iran are somewhat disingenuous, despite the fact that nobody should be too sorry to see the Iranian regime deposed. Any action would lead to heightened security risks at home.
No, the UK is not ready for such action. Condemn Iran, put more sanction on. Act when you are ready and there will be a benefit.
