Should England receive more devolution from Westminster to regional leaders?
Andy Burnham, newly elected MP and former Mayor of Greater Manchester, has called for more devolution across England. Devolution transfers decision-making power from the UK Parliament in Westminster to governments and regional authorities closer to the communities they serve. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own legislatures with responsibility for many domestic issues, while England has gradually given powers to regional bodies instead of creating its own parliament.
