Should the government rely on voluntary landowner action to restore 30% of nature in England by 2030?
The government has published a plan to meet its international 30by30 commitment to restore nature by 2030. The plan calls for landowners to voluntarily protect and enhance nature on land covering about 32% of England. Currently only 7% of land meets the criteria, and critics say the voluntary approach is completely insufficient.
