Should the Royal Family release some of its land for social housing?

No law requires the Royal Family to release land for social housing. Most royal land sits in the Crown Estate, an independent body whose profits go to the Treasury, and the Duchy of Cornwall, which funds the Prince of Wales. The Duchy's 2026 report commits £500m over ten years and cites 30% affordable homes at Nansledan and 900 affordable homes in its Faversham plan. The Crown Estate plans a 30,000-home pipeline under new investment powers.

Stop this lefty bullsh*t, it has nothing to do with housing and all to do with attacking the monarchy. I’m sick to death of these people

Republican nonsense.

The country gets a lot of revenue from crown estates. There is plenty of land elsewhere that can be used. Far from us needing a reduction in population as some keep suggesting, we need the population to grow, the birth rate is low. We do need more homes, not on crown estates.

Yes, but there's no point building council estates in the middle of nowhere. Medium density blocks in cities, and planned towns like Poundbury elsewhere.

We don't need more housing,we need lesspeople. We especially don't need the loss of any more green land or farmland for housing.

The UK needs to both build a lot more houses and control excessive population growth caused by immigration. Reducing treasury income from crown lands is unlikely to help much.

Utterly insane. Absolutely not. Wouldn't put a dent in the housing needs and would be fine purely for symbolism. Maybe that is the purpose behind it anyway.
