Repatriations for acts generations ago is madness, who pays to who? Nationwide the UK has already paid, and those demanding reparations are just as likely descendants of slavers as we are.
No. I know the whole world is in economic crises, but this is not a way to boost a bit of income for any nation! As for the UK, please do allocate finds to demolish all forms of Modern Day Slavery & annihilate Human Trafficking! I'll support that 100%. If wealthy families in the UK are funding these uncivilised atrocities in 2026 deal with them appropriately & with the full force of the law! 'Sorry' is an action word. 🤓
UK does not expect any payment for taking the lead to end the (mainly) Africa to America slave trade … and to spread the word worldwide with some success. It took a few cannonballs lobbed at the Barbary Coast to stop even the English being taken 🫣
None of the living British owned slaves, none of the Caribbean citizens was a British slave. 6 to 7 generations passed since the United Kingdom ended slavery in the Caribbean. 188 years. No way.
