England's mayors now have powers to charge uncapped percentage-based levies on all overnight accommodation including business stays to fund local infrastructure. The UK already ranks near the bottom for price competitiveness in tourism and faces 20% VAT on hotel rooms. Business groups warn the extra cost on corporate travel raises expenses for employers, risks lost conferences and inward investment, and adds administrative complexity across different local rates.

I'm thinking of one absolute disastrous mayor that is in our capital. Absolutely no.
How many times, we need less taxes no more. Placing tax on something means limiting it. And as always it will hit families closer to poverty most, no holidays for you poor people you cannot afford to go abroad and now you also cannot afford to go on hols domestically. Stay and live in your 15 min. cities.
They shouldn’t have the ability to levy them at all.
