The sharper divide is gender. Men rejected a permanent moratorium by a wide 13-4, while women split evenly at 4-4, exactly the difference between a rout and a genuine debate. That gap tracks a broader pattern seen in tech and infrastructure fights nationally, where economic-growth arguments against precautionary regulation tend to poll better with men than women.

With no live data centre proposal even before the council, this reads less as a verdict on a specific project than as a test of appetite for growth-first planning versus precaution, and growth-first won comfortably.
