Should schools stop teaching about LGBTQ+ relationships?

Revised statutory guidance on relationships and sex education (RSE) came into effect in England on 1 September 2026. It requires secondary schools to teach the features of stable and healthy same-sex relationships alongside others, strongly encourages primary schools to include same-sex parents when discussing families, and states that pupils should be taught the facts and the law about biological sex and gender reassignment without endorsing contested views as fact. Schools must have regard to this guidance and promote respect for people with protected characteristics under the Equality Act.

The hysterical fragility required to demand schools pretend gay people are mythical creatures is absurd. If a basic curriculum acknowledging reality triggers someone this badly, they're the issue... Equal marriage is British law. Some people are gay. The end.

Schools could do more to work with parents on age appropriate education for their children. It might be useful for children to have routine access to individual counselling in schools. Or, perhaps reinstate school nurses that children could talk to privately for practical advice. There isn't a need for a syllabus of classroom teaching on private matters.

Although it should be taught, Biological reality (sex is linked to chromosomes and you can’t change it) should take precedence over false indoctrination. With education in a much more balanced and reasonable way than it currently is.

As an LGBT adult who grew up when these things were 'not talked about', it made me feel awful and isolated as a child. 'Gay' and 'tranny' were swear words, nothing else. Positive role models, representation and factual information would have helped a lot back then.

There's no problem with LGB teaching. That's about sexuality. The rest is woke identity politics and make believe. There's no place for it, especially in a school.
