The government’s new National Housing Bank will provide up to £16bn in loans, equity and guarantees to boost housebuilding. Nine construction leaders have urged ministers to ring-fence these funds in digital accounts to shield subcontractors from late payment and insolvency. The Small Business Protections Bill already proposes banning retentions after a two-year transition.
