Should the government extend judicial review reforms to major housing, transport and energy projects?
The UK government is consulting on extending judicial review reforms beyond Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects to major housing, transport and energy schemes including solar developments, road building and affordable homes. The proposals include tighter controls on repeat claims and clearer court timetables to reduce delays while keeping judicial review in place. This builds on earlier reforms in the Planning and Infrastructure Act 2025 and aims to support targets for 150 major infrastructure decisions this Parliament.
