Should the House of Lords introduce a retirement age of 80 and require peers to attend at least 20% of sitting days?
The House of Lords currently has 774 members. A Labour manifesto commitment led to a committee recommending a phased retirement age of 80 for all peers and a minimum attendance of 20% of sitting days, up from the current once-per-session rule. The government will consider the proposals before responding later this year.
