Should the Police Reform Bill include minimum legal safeguards on police use of facial recognition technology?

The government has announced that the Police Reform Bill will include a framework for police use of facial recognition. A joint statement signed by Big Brother Watch, Liberty, JUSTICE and others argues that if the Bill creates conditions for lawful use, it must bake in minimum statutory protections for privacy, free expression and free association rather than defer them to guidance.
