Should the UK change the 1971 law to allow deportation of Shabir Ahmed?

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will outline legal steps to deport Shabir Ahmed, the ringleader of the Rochdale grooming gang. Ahmed was jailed for 22 years in 2012 for child sexual offences, stripped of British citizenship, and released on licence this month. A 1971 law currently prevents his removal as a Commonwealth citizen who arrived over 50 years ago, and Pakistan may not accept him.
