Has the level of misogyny in the UK risen over the last 10 years?
Recent 2026 reports document widespread online misogyny, with 25% of women and 38% of 16-24 year-olds experiencing it according to EVAW and Refuge polling, prompting government taskforces and school programmes. Overall violent incidents against women have fallen 33% in a decade per ONS data, though harassment reports have risen; some long-term surveys show declining traditional misogynistic attitudes among men since the 1990s.

As has the level of misandry. Particularly the level of misandry.
If misogyny has risen, investigate why rather than treating it as though it appeared from nowhere. Britain has experienced enormous demographic change, including migration from societies with very different attitudes towards women and gender roles. Measure attitudes by age, sex, birthplace and migration background and publish the results. Integration must mean accepting British standards of equality before the law, not importing attitudes fundamentally incompatible to ours.
There is an issue with misogyny being overused for sexist attitudes rather than actual misogyny, and misandry being underused for actual misandry.
Along with racism and hate crimes
Unpopular opinion. In certain demographics, yes of course. For sure though Misandry is way higher.
Social media has had a huge part to play in this, verbal abuse has a huge effect on people, violence against women may be down but social media has given misogynists a different way.
Is this the misogyny caused by the importing of thousands of men under thirty who the government feel need a handout about rape and why it’s a bad thing? Or the misogyny practiced by the labour handmaids who want men to go wherever they want if they feel womanly? So their feelings aren’t hurt and their demands are met. I voted no tho because I don’t feel most indigenous men are misogynistic. I can do without replies telling me the mythical farright are responsible-its risible
I actually hate that word misogyny because it's another one of those over used words for the slightest little thing. I do think its got worse in the UK but not as a result of native Brits. The increase is based on a certain ideology being aloud to creep into our society and we all know what that is.
Ok yes UK has many more people now following an unreformed medieval religion which subordinates women. On top we have the new assault on hard-won women's rights from a tiny yet vociferous minority of Trans people, encouraged by the usual suspects. Social media also gives voice to some pretty nasty blokes who in the past would have got short shrift in any decent pub. Even more disturbing are my daughters' negative experiences in 'normal' workplaces - a boys' backlash perhaps?
Let's try to break this down. We live in a quiet rural area, and we both work in IT. We are not at the sharp end of this. Things were good for a while in the 80s. Not perfect, but good. You could live and love as you wished as long as you didn't hurt people. We've backslid because Social Media has catalysed extremes across the piece. At the same time, we've welcomed patriarchal attitudes which don't sit well within our culture and given them religious exemptions. Fair?
