Do you want regional devolution? An assembly of the north, South West and East for example?
England lacks the devolved parliaments of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Past attempts at English regional assemblies were rejected in a 2004 North East referendum, while recent mayoral combined authorities have delivered some local powers over transport, housing and skills. With Keir Starmer resigned and Andy Burnham emerging as a likely successor pledging greater regional devolution, the debate over whether to create new elected assemblies for areas such as the North, South West and East has resurfaced.
