Cheating on UK driving tests rose 47% to 2,844 cases in the year to September 2025, with 1,731 of those involving impersonation for theory or practical tests. The DVSA currently uses photo ID matching, enlarged licence photos and physical checks at centres. Fingerprint biometrics would add a unique identifier to confirm the person taking the test matches the registered candidate.

Why cheat on something as crucial as your driving test(?) How bizarre!!! Once upon a time being a skilled driver was a right of passage! You wanted to be good at it and it was an easy achievement with just a bit of dedication! Parents teaching defensive driving were the cool parents & boasting you got your license was slick... Is this mostly young people??? Why cheat!? So weird and dangerous! Anyway - you don't have to add another layer of security. More paperwork!
