Should Overseas Territories like Gibraltar and the Falklands get seats in the House of Lords?
No British Overseas Territory has a seat in either House of Parliament. Each has its own government, while the UK is responsible for defence and foreign affairs. In October 2026 the Conservatives published a paper proposing an appointed Lords representative for each territory. In September 2026 a Reform UK MP backed elected Westminster representation for Gibraltar and others. Gibraltar has long sought representation, but the Falklands government told a 2023 parliamentary inquiry it did not want a seat in either House.

The BoTs should get ~4 MPs and Peers to give them a proportionate representation in both houses, noting this would need supporting by technology so online voting is enabled to reduce costs
They should be invited, not forced. The choice is theirs.. Thing here is this call to get rid of the HOL, is this a lack of understanding as to why it exists? It's there for a reason, to check any new bill going through parliament, they check wording, the legal side, the need, it gets sent back to parliament, and so on until it's right or dropped. Whether it's Lords or other people with the right expertise, it is needed.
Happy to give them a voice, but unelected appointees, no.
The lords should be abolished, and territories should not be forced to join it
The House of Lords is already an bloated, unelected retirement home.... adding more appointees isn't going to fix its democratic legitimacy. And why make them if they don't want them? Just performative bollocks
It'll let more of those those reparations nutters in.
