Should the BBC licence fee be revoked?

The BBC is funded primarily by a compulsory £180 annual TV licence fee paid by 23.3 million UK households, though this has fallen sharply as viewing shifts to on-demand streaming. The current Royal Charter expires at the end of 2027 and the government is reviewing future funding models following a 2025 green paper consultation. The Jimmy Savile scandal exposed serious failures by BBC management in the 1960s-2000s, but no executives faced criminal prosecution.

It’s outdated. Let the BBC earn its funding.

End licence, sell to highest bidder. End of problems.
