Should the UK create a Cabinet-level body to oversee new towns delivery?
Professor Juliano Denicol told the House of Lords Built Environment Committee that a long-term central agency with Cabinet-level oversight is needed to deliver the government's new-towns programme. The government is assessing delivery options including development corporations for seven proposed new towns. A 2025 report found consensus in favour of development corporations for the next wave of settlements.
