Should the UK government host a prime-time televised national climate emergency briefing?
As the UK experiences its third heatwave of the summer, 91 cross-party MPs and peers have signed a parliamentary call urging the government to host a televised national climate emergency briefing. A 50-minute film hosted by Chris Packham, crowdfunded after an earlier expert briefing in Westminster Hall, outlines threats from climate and nature breakdown to food security, the economy, public health and national security. Lt Gen Richard Nugee describes climate breakdown as the most insidious threat to society.
