Is the Green Party a danger to British Society?

Yes 64%No 36%56 votes cast

The Green Party of England and Wales currently holds one seat in the House of Commons and maintains a presence in local government across several councils. The party advocates policies including rapid decarbonisation, wealth taxes, and expanded welfare provision. These positions have drawn both support from environmental campaigners and criticism from those concerned about economic impacts and national security implications.

By 36 votes to 20, this chamber decided the Greens amount to a danger to British society, a comfortable if not overwhelming margin of 28 points on the sort of question that usually splits down partisan lines rather than producing a rout.

The real fracture is gender, not age. Women who voted broke 73% yes, a near three-to-one verdict, while men split almost down the middle at 53-47, barely distinguishable from a coin toss. That gap, wider than anything the age brackets produced, suggests the "danger" framing landed very differently depending on who was reading it.

Age, by contrast, told a messier story. The 55-64 bracket was the most hawkish on the Greens at 88% yes, while both the 45-54 and 65+ groups split evenly, and the younger cohorts, 16-24 and 25-34, still leaned yes at around six in ten. There is no clean generational story here, no straightforward echo of the net-zero-sceptic older voter versus climate-anxious youth divide that usually structures Green debates.

What's left is a chamber broadly convinced, but convinced unevenly, that a one-seat party of decarbonisation and wealth taxes constitutes a societal threat.
