Did Keir Starmer leave the UK in a better place than he found it?

Not one Yes voter left an argument to defend the government, while No won by two to one. That silence matters more than the margin: this was not a balanced assessment of Starmer’s record, but a prosecution assembled almost entirely by one side.

The floor’s most-respected No case said: “I cannot think of a single thing this puppet of the Globalists did to help the UK.” Another highly rated voice channelled economic anger into the budget, urging voters to “Let Thier pockets be empty like ours come Oct budget”, with the argument aimed as much at survival as at the former prime minister.

The other No voices widened the charge beyond the economy, saying Starmer had “increased hate and fearmongering against minorities in our own country”. The room’s shorter interventions — “Really!!!!” and, in reply, “It’s falling dude wait til the end” — sounded less like a developed case than a confident assumption that events would eventually vindicate the verdict; there was no Yes argument to meet them.

That left the debate spanning alleged dishonesty, living costs, foreign policy, immigration and rights protections without settling on a single test of whether the country was better off. Voters were not weighing competing evidence so much as gathering different grievances under one conclusion.

The verdict was decisive, but the more revealing fact is that its winning side did nearly all the talking.
