He appears to have done many things to improve London, he's been a Mayor for a long time, if he was useless, as many are saying loudly, why is he still Mayor? Makes me wonder about the critics. He's now a Baron, it does not mean he has changed his mind about THL, it might mean that he feels it needs updating, and where best to encourage that change? From within.
They say you're never more than a metre away from a rat in the Houses of Parliament. He's just proven that theory.
Taking a life peerage contradicts every Labour promise on reforming or abolishing the unelected House of Lords. Hypocrisy at its finest. We need genuine constitutional reform in the Lords and the Labour Mayor taking peerage just undermines that completely. Whether he deserved it or not, he should have refused it.
Example of DEI and tribalism in one, he also seems to be select early by power that be to be their puppet. Although honours are so degraded over the last decades nothing should surprise.
