Is Kemi Badenoch right to remove Mel Stride as shadow chancellor?

Kemi Badenoch, leader of the Conservative Party, removed Sir Mel Stride as shadow chancellor on 31 August 2026 as part of a major shadow cabinet reshuffle. Sacking Mel Stride proves the Tories have learned nothing from the chaos of recent years. Stride was one of the few remaining moderates who respected basic fiscal reality. Replacing him with an arch-deregulator like Andrew Griffith is just a desperate lurch toward failed trickle-down dogma just to fend off Reform. It won't work for them I suspect
