Gender affirming surgery stretches way beyond trans people. Atificial penises, dor example, were created for army veterans who had their genitals blown off during wartime. But even simpler, gender affirming care includes hair loss medications, breast implants, and hormone regulation medication.
There is no strong evidence that 'gender affirming' operations /medication are beneficial. There is good evidence that they are detrimental to both physical and mental health, particularly for young women who are becoming the largest group of transitioners. Most would-be transitioners are either gay and grow out of wanting to change , mentally ill and not helped by transition, or indulging in a sexual fetish. There is no reason to fund 'transition' for any of these.
Gender dysphoria is a psychological illness, the treatment of which includes talk therapy and hormonal medication. Talk therapy and medication are covered by the NHS for other mental health conditions. Why should this condition be any different? I understand not funding gender-affirming surgeries. But the medication makes it possible for people to live average lives and feel comfortable in their bodies, which is the goal of most mental health treatments the NHS offers.
Simply because the NHS can't afford to fund everything. My list of procedures wouldn't stop with that, I'd add IVF, cosmetic vanity based plastic surgery, gastric bands, alcohol related stuff etc etc to the list as well
FMG is illegal in the UK. MMG should be illegal as well. I am sorry for these people unable to accept reality their own body but I do not believe we should deepen their issues. Finally these are really shallow cosmetics, as the medicine is not able to alter gender yet. Obviously, I will not want my tax money to be spend on someone obsessions, especially UK is skint and in financial trouble.
Ban it for children ,aduts pay for themselves or get friends to help.
Gender affirming surgery creates p**ses out of forearm skin and v*****s out of colons. Lifelong infections, incontinence, infertility and inability to o**g**m are the result. It should not even be allowed privately. It is Frankenstein-level awful and the compensation claims will be gigantic.
