Should the UK government take difficult decisions to speed up renewable energy projects and hit zero-carbon electricity by 2030?
Labour has approved new renewable energy projects at double the rate of the previous Conservative government. The UK has promised a virtually zero-carbon electricity system by 2030 but turning approvals into operational power remains slow. The head of the National Energy System Operator has said the target is at the outer limit of what is achievable if difficult decisions are taken early.
