UK political parties received almost £65 million in donations in 2025. This September Reform UK accepted two £36 million gifts from crypto billionaires Ben Delo and Christopher Harborne, taking its 2026 haul above £86 million and exceeding the combined election spending of major parties in 2024. The Labour government under Prime Minister Andy Burnham has introduced a £100,000 cap on donations from overseas electors, a moratorium on crypto donations, and enhanced 'know your donor' checks via the Representation of the People Bill, while a cross-government taskforce examines caps on UK-based mega-donors amid public concern about influence.

All donations need to be transparent, but attempts to limit donations is just the establishment parties trying to restrict new rivals.
The rule should be one - no donations. Ideally no parties.
All large donations should be capped - crypto billionaires, labour unions, big business - politicians can't help but be influenced by money.
