Should there be a cap on political donations to UK parties?
The GMB union has written to over 80 affiliated Labour MPs urging them not to support amendments to the Representation of the People Bill that would cap donations at £100,000 or £1m. Labour whips are contacting MPs to heed the union's warning that the cap risks unintended consequences for union funding of the party. The amendments aim to curb big money in politics amid controversy over Reform UK's funding.
