Farage’s resignation was read less as an act of political combat than as a possible attempt to step outside the glare of the standards inquiry. The decisive answer reflected suspicion that the £5m gift and its delayed declaration were not an incidental embarrassment but the centre of the story.
Yes voters treated motive and character as inseparable. The floor’s sharpest formulation was that “Farage wanted the investigation to go away”, while another dismissed him as “not trustworthy” and likened him to “a dodgy car salesman”.
No voters did not really contest the awkwardness of the episode; they contested the interpretation of the resignation. The argument the floor rated highest was the sardonic “It's to publicise that bins can be recycled.” Others said “He has explained fully what he has done on the triggernometry podcast” and claimed “the main parties would collude to make the election a farce.”
That left the two sides talking past each other: Yes saw a politician failing to stay “above reproach”, while No saw selective outrage, hostile institutions and a man using the rules to his advantage. In the wider argument about political donations and parliamentary standards, this self-selected online chamber placed more weight on the appearance of evasion than on Farage’s account of persecution.
The room was not weighing evidence so much as judging whether the resignation looked like an escape route — and it delivered its answer with striking confidence.

Don’t think so. He knows that they are out to get him. When overt corruption is so open and vile in Labour & LibDems with similar and in some cases considerably more questionable donations, the object to do a Boris on him. He won’t get a fair crack of the whip. He just got his kick in first and the media went hysterical promoting a hard left Socialist dressed as a bin. Really……? Arrogant behaviour with no thought of the electorate. Makerfield & Mayor anybody????
I follow Parliament. Week in, week out, I have watched all parties, including the Tories, disparage Reform. Farage could have just said sorry, as so many MPs of all parties have done, and it should have blown over. I think he snapped because of the reception he gets in the house. What I don't think he anticipated was that the main parties would collude to make the election a farce. BTW Who paid for all the lost deposits? It certainly wasn't the joke candidates.
YES.... obviously. Just suprised there's 30% so gaslight they can't see reality, even when it's stuck right in front of their eyes!
Farage wanted the investigation to go away , he's not trustworthy reminds me of a dodgy car salesman, ego far too big imho
It's to publicise that bins can be recycled.
He has explained fully what he has done on the triggernometry podcast. He has used the rules to his advantage. Hes unliked because he explain which loopholes hes taking advantage of.
In other news, Bruin has defecated in the forest area, and the Pope appears to be Catholic.
