Has accepting US and Middle Eastern money into UK football ruined a working-class pass-time?
Since the early 2000s, US investors have bought stakes in clubs including Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal, while Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds and entities control Manchester City, Newcastle United, and others. This has brought billions in spending on players, stadiums, and global marketing, making the Premier League the world's richest league with record revenues, but average ticket prices have risen sharply and many traditional fans feel disconnected from their clubs.
