Should the house of Lords be scrapped for a better system based on business leaders, academics and others?
The House of Lords has over 800 members including life peers, bishops and some hereditary peers. It revises legislation and provides expert scrutiny but faces criticism for political patronage and size. Reform proposals have circulated for years including under recent governments with calls for smaller expert-based chambers or full election. Public and political discussion continues on modernising the second chamber amid broader constitutional questions.

Biggest boys and girls club going . Nearly 1000 now money for nothing and your dinner for free,or subsidised!
Hereditary peerage is on its way out regardless, so the Lords is already made up of Business Leaders, Academics and others
The Lords are old, outdated and subject to external influence. Put real, British interests in power. Obviously.
We should do this, but be careful how the 'leaders' are appointed.
