Should the UK celebrate its history more?
The UK has a rich history of parliamentary democracy, abolition of the slave trade, scientific innovation, and the creation of the largest empire the world has seen, which spread law, infrastructure and governance but also involved conquest and exploitation. Recent years have seen increased focus on negative aspects of empire and colonialism in education and public life, while figures like Rupert Lowe and many on social media argue for greater pride in British achievements to counter a narrative of shame. National events such as St George's Day and historical anniversaries continue but lack the scale of unified celebration seen in countries like the United States.

We were once a global empire, and uplifted countless from destitution, including doing more to end slavery than anyone else. What's not to be proud of?
Great question and I wish that UK did more. Norway celebrates it's Vikings quite strongly.
