Should the Union Flag be flown in all Government buildings throughout the UK?
Current UK government guidance from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport encourages all government buildings to fly the Union Flag every day of the year unless another approved flag is displayed instead. Designated days require it on specific royal, national and commemorative occasions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Recent local council debates and Reform UK-led authorities have extended similar permanent Union Flag policies to civic buildings to promote national unity while restricting other flags.

A flag is a symbol not to be used other than when the country needs representing on the world stage, whether that royal occasions, international summits, we all know where we live, where we are from. Putting flags on top of buildings makes no difference whatsoever. English, British Proud I dont need a flag to prove it.
The Union Flag should be in every Government building. I would also like to see local flags displayed at the same time.
Clearly yes. But it’s not the only flag which ought to be flying as there’s no harm in flying others alongside it for specific events/memorials etc.
YES......but! Within reason, it's shouldn't be a legal requirement, however it should be flown regularly, as is common in many country's around the world. And I believe it is in many cases around the country flown almost all of the time anyway 🤷🏻♂️
This is a predictably stupid question on this topic. Those in power and in charge of said buildings already have the freedom to fly the Union Flag. The proposal here is about taking away agency from those local governments in the name of performative patriotism. Fly it, don’t fly it… it should be a choice, not a requirement.
The Union flag is the emblem of the British nation and thus deserves to be flown on public buildings or company property without fear or embarrassment. However the erection of the flag on lamposts or overbridges etc is not patriotic but intended to make a political statement, generate intolerance and intimidate those residents that may not be of ethnically British origin. This does not confer pride in the nation but intolerance leading to pogroms against non-whites.
This is a false binary - the flag should be flown on almost all government buildings for the vast majority of the year, but not necessarily all buildings always.

This is straightforward and shouldn't need saying. of course the national flag should be proudly flown all over the country.
It shouldn’t be a controversial notion to have the flag of our nation flying on buildings that our supposed to represent our nation and its people
