Debt, decline and institutional exhaustion formed the room’s shared backdrop, with Yes carrying the vote by nearly four to one. Every opinion posted came from that side, turning the verdict into a one-sided prosecution rather than a contest between competing economic cases.
The floor’s highest-rated Yes argument was also its angriest: “We are screwed with this Fabian stinking gov!” Beneath the rhetoric sat a familiar account of debt, weak growth and public services left to deteriorate, captured by the comparison that a neglected house would be “falling down around you now”.
The absent No side never answered that diagnosis on the page. Instead, Yes voters varied in how they explained the trouble: one dismissed a “pretendy economy mostly made of pretendy white collar jobs”, soon to be exposed by AI, while others blamed public-sector expansion, poor growth policy and household pressures; they agreed on the alarm more readily than on its remedy.
The debate therefore landed inside the live argument about tax, spending and the capacity of the state to sustain living standards and services. At its edges, the language became both theatrical and conspiratorial — “Sell the crown jewels” on one side, and warnings about digital identity, global governance and unfunded pensions on the other — but all of it pointed to a deeper loss of confidence in economic stewardship.
On this self-selected page, “serious trouble” meant not a temporary wobble but a country judged unable to repair its finances, services or sense of direction.

If the aim is Central Bank Digital Currency backed up by Digital ID and a headlong rush to the UN’s Agenda 2030 and it’s so called Sunstainabikity Goals - shared by the WEF & EU and our Civil Service & Fabians then all is going swimmingly. What’s £3Trillian Debt & £5/6Trillion of Unfunded Public Sector pension liabilities…Eh?? Remember Gordon Brown knowingly destroyed our Private Sector pensions yet the State wasters remain cosseted and protected and paid for by us!
Yes. It's a pretendy economy mostly made of pretendy white collar jobs which are about to be swept away by AI, public sector "jobs"and vape shops, with a Government that has no idea how to encourage growth, only how to take and spend. We are doomed.
We're in a £3 trillion debt hole, nuff said
3 TRILLION in Debt?? We are screwed with this Fabian stinking gov! By the end of 3 yrs, at least 6 generations in the future will be left to pay it off, and they won't manage it . Labour members should be made to pay it back all of em and Thier not so clever supporters. IMHO
Now 3 trillion and rising. Bankrupt country already with no signs of how to get back to reasonable borrowing. Sell the crown jewels ,put replicas behind glass ,nobody would know !!
YES Put it like this... If you didn't maintain your house for 14yrs, choosing instead to take the money & give it away to your mates, it'd be falling down around you now... The problem you'd then have if you want to renovate that house today is, Not only do you have to find the money to do the outstanding 14yrs repairs & maintenance. You also still have to put food on the table and pay today's bills as well.. That's the problem today's Labour government has to deal with
