Should assisted dying be legal in the UK?
Assisted dying remains illegal in the UK with a maximum 14-year prison sentence for assisting suicide. Private members bills to legalise it for terminally ill adults with less than six months to live have repeatedly come before Parliament, including one returning in 2026 that faces opposition over risks to the vulnerable, medical ethics, and the need for fuller scrutiny. Public opinion polls show majority support for change while campaigners highlight concerns from disability groups and doctors about coercion, slippery slopes seen abroad, and underfunding of palliative care.

Just look at MAID in Canada. Went from ideal to 'are you depressed?' real fast. Hard no from practical experience.
